Water in Mason Jars. I know what you’re thinking… after a year of hiatus, her first post in a food blog is about water? How unimaginative! While I can’t deny that, I do think there is just something so lovely about mason jars. They definitely add a rustic charm to just about everything. Even paired with water and lemon, these from Highway 61 are just make the water seem that much sweeter.
Wow, it’s been a really long time. Sorry about that! I just finished up my final year in school, and started working full time so it’s been a year of adjustments and changes. I am so amazed by all the people that continue to follow HumbleTastes, and I promise to post more often. For now, please be prepared that I may or may not have become an Instagram photo whore. I’ll try to vary it every now and then though, but be prepared as this was an unexpected return for now at least, I come prepared with only phone photos. Anyway, on to the food!

General Tso’s/Tao’s/Tsao’s Chicken. No matter how you spell it, it’s still pretty yummy. I’m sure most people have their go-to Chinese restaurants and this is from mine- New Ho King right on Spadina. Actually located in China Town, this place is legit Chinese food, not like so many of those Western-Asian fusion places. Complete with disposable plastic tablecloths that waiters just gather at the ends to collect all the dirty plates and mediocre service, the food obviously speaks for itself.
Hi everyone! It’s another Tumblr Tuesday and its time to recommend something you like to the directory. Please let me be that lucky person by clicking the link above. Thanks so much everyone :)

Chicken Karaage. Which is pretty much Japanese Fried Chicken. This dish is a usual of Boyfriend’s, and so its grown on me quite a bit. In fact, its one of the few things I like better sans sauce since it keeps it crispy and light. These were from a sushi place right by my school, so its perfect for those mid-break library cravings.

Dynamite Rolls. Considering how much sushi I eat, I’m surprised I post so little of it. Probably because I have a hard time waiting for Boyfriend to take a decent picture before I get impatient and start eating. For those hesitant to try sushi- dynamite rolls are a good starting point since they’re safe- no raw fish, and nothing weird- just pure deliciousness!
