Pho.  This Vietnamese noodle soup is often served with different kinds of meat, especially rare meat that’s supposed to cook in the hot broth.  Still, I stuck to the basic beef.  I was also craving some deep fried spring rolls but sadly, they didn’t have the kind I wanted.  Are bean sprouts still healthy if they’re covered in hoisin sauce?  Oh well.

Demetre’s Moo La-La.  Bananas, sliced hazelnuts, nutella syrup on a sugar frosted Belgian Waffle topped with ice cream and whipped cream?  Don’t mind if I do!  We skipped the funnel cake (a rarity) and sauntered off to Caffe Demetre, famous for their amazing crepes and desserts.  Definitely a treat for the eyes and mouth!

Frozen Hot Chocolate.  I made the mistake of ordering this on the side as a drink.  I should’ve had an idea on how big it was when reading the goblet reference on the menu.  Definitely a dessert on its own, this super creamy milkshake-like “drink” is seriously worth loosening one’s belt buckles.

The Girlie

I obviously consider ordering serious business.  Check out Boyfriend’s blog if you like the pictures of food you see on here since they’re all taken by him.  Shameless plug or obvious love?  You decide :P Thanks!

Vanilla and Pistachio Gelato.   With some peaches and drizzled caramel, this sweet treat is a little taste of heaven on a hot summer day.  It’s been said before, and I will say it again: I am an ice cream girl at heart.  But every now and then, I can appreciate a good alternative when it presents itself.  Sorry frozen yogurt, you’re good but this vanilla and pistachio gelato is on a completely different level.

Rotisserie Chicken with Fries.  My usual order of Quarter Chicken Dinner is often more than enough to satisfy me, but for some reason, I always insist on an appetizer.  And not that I dislike fastfood fries, but I prefer these better.  Maybe I’m just trying to convince myself that it’s a little classier.  I skip the classic Swiss Chalet sauce and go for gravy though.  Obviously, taste > class.

Cinnabon. The best part about waiting for the train at Union Station are all the food possibilities. One of my personal favourites is Cinnabon, with their “World Famous Cinnamon Rolls.” Not to be a cinnamon roll snob, but I can’t find one that I love as much; Saint Cinnamon just doesn’t do it for me. I ended up buying a pack of six huge rolls and in my house, bringing home these babies means you get treated like Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.

PEI Lobster Tail on a Saffron Risotto Cake.  As soon as I saw this in the menu, I knew it was meant to be mine.  From Toula Restaurant set in the Westin Harbour Castle, this lobster tail was the perfect size for the appetizer and that’s just how I like it.  Some times, I feel like people make appetizers a little too big.  I mean, I appreciate the generosity but teasing goes a long way.  And tease this tail did.

C Plus.  aka Boyfriend’s drink of choice.  Actually, he prefers Crush over C Plus,  but they taste the same to me.  He asks everywhere even if we’ve been there before, and he knows they don’t have it.  He figures, if he asks enough, the service staff won’t remember him anyway and eventually assume that it’s popular enough to serve.  Yes, I know… I pick ‘em good

Chocolate Espresso Ganache Tart with Chantilly Cream.  There’s chocolate and then there’s chocolate espresso.  I was pleasantly surprised with my first taste of this ganache tart.  I wasn’t expecting the stronger chocolate flavoured kick to it, but paired with the chantilly cream, it was absolutely delicious.
